We met by having been introduced by a colleague and in Strand Magistrate’s Court of all places. This first introduction was sometime during the first quarter of 2014. This was, however, not the meeting that kindled the spark.

We were “reintroduced” (by the same colleague) and during Friday afternoon ‘after-work-drinks’. This second introduction was sometime during January 2016. Following which William invited Nicole to a braai at his place for that same Friday evening… and so our love story began.

That fateful Friday resulted in the spark being properly ignited… And it didn’t take much, as we shared many common interests, such as our passion for the legal profession and our fine appreciation of wine. 

 

The following Monday William returned some court files belonging to the aforesaid colleague, but chose to do so at Nicole’s residence. He returned the very next Tuesday under the guise of needing to borrow some law textbooks.​ Needless to say the textbooks were returned and some more textbooks were borrowed. All to precipitate further meetings and opportunities to get to know each other.

It took about 6 months for William to cement or formalise the relationship. And what an interesting match we make - both loud, both extreme extroverts, both opinionated, both attorneys, and both (most importantly) in love with the other. ​And here we are, about 10 years later.​ The wait may have been long. But our journey was and will always be our own.

Our journey may not have been perfect, but it has always been our perfectly imperfect journey. We’re especially grateful for the guidance we received along the way, which helped us build a strong and lasting foundation. A special mention goes to our life coach / therapist, Francois Esterhuizen, who taught us some fundamental and crucial relationship and communication skills. A special mention also goes to the father and mother of the bride, Theo & Chaardi Klein; the late father of the groom, Jan Fullard; the mother of the groom, Petra Fullard; as well as Ben Mathewson, William’s mentor, colleague and friend, all of whom supported us and guided us in prayer and Godly principles for a lasting marriage.
